Centurion Chronicles #1: Eye of the Whirlwind
And the Story Begins…
Hired by Henry Smith; Lady Laura Bancroft, Dr. Joseph Kenrick, and Lady Bancroft’s faithful butler, Jeeves Cutler, arrive in Cairo, Egypt to check on the progress of a dig of The Tombs of Aratakumba for the Heart of Hakkar sponsored by The Centurion Club and led by Dr. Edward Radcliff. Little did they know they have just put themselves into the sights of The Whirlwind, the top assassin of The Brotherhood of Set. Mayhem quickly ensues as their contact drops dead from a seemingly impossible shot and they find themselves in a race against time to get the Dig permits and information on the site. They narrowly escape death at The National Museum of Cairo after being set-upon by Agents of Set and fired upon by The Whirlwind himself. Laura was able to fight off the attackers (with the aid of a poisonous trapped statue), while Dr. Kenrick was able to protect his faithful friend, Achmed Al Atrash, employee of the Egyptian government’s Office of Curiosities and Cultural Relics. Securing the permits and a map to the location of the dig, Lady Bancroft and Dr. Kenrick proceed to the minaret that The Whirlwind was using as his sniper perch. Atop the the minaret they find a note from The Whirlwind marking them for death. The minaret then topples as the base explodes with only the distant shot of a rifle for warning. They are forced to ride the crumbling building to the ground. They survive, but eschew their old hotel and check in that evening with a new place to stay.
